Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Dharmendra Pradhan Speaks To Uttarakhand CM Over Rescue Operation

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan spoke to Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone on Monday evening and asked about rescue of workers, including those from Odisha, who are trapped inside the under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also prayed for the safety of all the 40 workers including five from Odisha who have been trapped inside the tunnel for the last several hours.
"Spoke to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding rescue of workers, including those from Odisha who are trapped inside the under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi," Minister Dharmendra Pradhan posted on X, formerly known as Tweeter.
"Thankfully all the workers are unharmed and the Uttarakhand govt. is taking all measures for relief, rescue and safe evacuation. Praying for everyone’s safety and well-being," he added.

Notably, a portion of the under-construction tunnel connecting Silkyara to Dandalgaon collapsed on Saturday night.

✨Five labourers from Odisha are among 40 persons who have been trapped in the collapsed under-construction tunnel on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarakhand for the last several hours.
The Odia workers trapped inside the tunnel have been identified as Tapan Mandal and Bhagaban Batra of Nabarangpur, and Bisweswar Nayak, Raju Naik and Dhiren of Mayurbhanj.

Meanwhile, relief and rescue work is underway in the Silkyara under construction Tunnel on the Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district for the second day today.
Uttarkashi District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela said that all the workers are safe inside the tunnel and they are being provided adequate food and oxygen through pipes.
