1 Dead, 71 Undergoing Treatment Due To Sunstroke In Odisha 

Bhubaneswar, Apr 19: Odisha witnessed its first death due to sunstroke in Balasore informed government sources on Thursday. With the mercury rising high, Odisha is turning a burning cauldron day-by-day.  

As many as seven people in Mayurbhanj and Angul each  have been affected by to the sun's rage and are undergoing treatment. Six others are getting treated in the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for the same. 

The Health and Family Welfare Ministry has informed that at least 71 people have suffered the sunstroke and are receiving treatment in various hospitals in Odisha by April 19. Of the 71 affected by sunstroke 35 cases are reported from Sundargarh alone. 

Bhubaneswar has been sizzling in the hot sun and recorded the season's highest temperature of 43.6 degree Celsius on Thursday.

"The state has recorded the highest temperature in Bhubaneshwar at 43.6 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneshwar, Boudh and Angul witnessed temperatures over 43 degrees Celsius," said Manorama Mohanty, Director, IMD Bhubaneswar.
