Balangir, Feb 25: Normal life was hit in Loisinga area in Bolangir district as locals began a 12-hour bandh in protest against State Government's apathy in declaring Loisinga as a notified area council (NAC).

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared the formation of 34 NACs across 20 districts and upgradation of five existing NACs to municipalities yesterday.

Though people of Loisingha had been demanding NAC status to their town for long, it was not found in the yesterday's list, creating strong resentment among them.

While Congress activists burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister yesterday evening in protest, locals  across the party lines under the agies of Anchalika Bikash Parishad staged a shutdown this morning to press the government to declare Loisinga as a NAC at the earliest.
