Union Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday experssed concern over the assault on police at a village in Bargarh district yesterday.

Bhubaneswar, Apr 12: Union Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday experssed concern over the assault on police at a village in Bargarh district yesterday.

Tagging a news report, published in a leading vernacular daily, in his 'X' account, the Union  Minister wrote, "This is the result of 25-year-old government. While law and situation has worsened, police are not safe here. The news report published on the first page of Daily Sambad indicates the prevailing law and order situation in the State."

Notably, police caught two persons, Jadunath Srinivas and Dileshwar Gahir of Kesharpur village under Basana PS, red-handed while taking 3 kg ganja from Nanu Sahu of Nityananada pur village under Jharbandh PS under Padmapur Sub Division in Bargarh district. Nanu managed to flee from the spot.

Despite attempts, police were not able to nab Nanu by the evening of the incident day. Thus next early morning at around 4 am, a police team comprising Jharbandh PS IIC Suchismita Mohanty and ASI Samaru Naag and others raided his house and nabbed Nanu. While they were bringing Nanu in their vehicle to PS, his family members and others attacked the police and helped Nanu escape. They even locked the IIC in their house. They too attacked other policemen and damaged the police vehicle.
