Angul, Dec 4: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday apprehended Nityananda Gaigaria, a Senior Clerk of Kishorenagar Block office in Odisha's Angul district, for allegedly taking a bribe from a complainant.

According to the Vigilance sources, the accused Senior Clerk was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Purna Chandra Bhokta, a Government employee for ante-dating his pay.

According to the information, There was a mistake in the salary slip of Bhokta who went to Nityananda to rectify it but he asked for a bribe to correct the slip.

On being informed, the vigilance sleuths laid a trap and nabbed the clerk while taking Rs 10,000 bribe.

The officers also seized the currency notes from the possession of the accused official.
