Annual Bird Reckoning In Hirakud Begins Today

Sambalpur, Jan 8: A massive exercise has begun for the annual bird census at Hirakud reservoir. A total of 78 officials, including 30 forest department personnel and 33 bird experts from three different districts, have been engaged to carry out the bird enumeration exercise this year.
As per reports, the census which has begun from 6 am on Monday will continue till 5 pm in a 500sqkm area.
The reservoir has been divided into 21 sectors for bird enumeration this year.

✨Hirakud DFO Anshuprajna Das informed that several youngsters and budding bird watchers have also been engaged for the annual bird census exercise. The bird census will be carried out in the entire Hirakud reservoir areas under Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh districts from Hirakud to Chhattisgarh border.
