Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecration: Odisha BJP Urges CM To Declare Jan 22 As Public Holiday

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: In view of the the pran pratishtha ceremony at Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Senior BJP Leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Jaya Narayana Mishra on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to declare January 22 as a public holiday.
The consecration ceremony of the Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be held on that day.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the LoP said, "Pran Pratistha consecration of Prabhu Sri Ram along with the new gran Ram Mandir will be inaugurated on 22nd January, 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
"On this auspicious occasion regarding the great God of Hinduism Prabhu Sri Ram, the whole nation is taking part in it. This occasion is also a matter of joy and great happiness for the people of Odisha,” he noted.
“I would request you to kindly declare 22nd January 2024 as a public holiday so that all the devotees of Lord Sri Ram will be able to be a part of it,” he added.

Earlier, the State government has declared January 17 as a public holiday in view of the inauguration of the Heritage Corridor Project at Jagannath Temple in Puri.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has invited representatives from 90 religious shrines and institutions across the country to attend the function on January 17, sources said.
