Bhadrak, Nov 6: In a barbaric incident, a pregnant woman was brutally killed by none other than her husband at Napanga Das Sahi under the Bhandaripokhari police station limits in Bhadrak district late on Sunday night. 

The deceased has been identified as Tapaswini Das and the accused as her husband Sipun Das. 

According to the information, Sipun and Tapaswini had married nine years back. It was Sipun's second marriage. They were not on good terms because of family misunderstandings. 

On Monday morning, some villagers saw Tapaswini's body lying in a desolate place, about 200 meters from her house.

On being informed police reached the village and recovered the body. After a primary investigation, police suspect that Tapaswaini was thrashed severely and then strangulated to death. Tapaswini was pregnant, police said. 

The accused has absconded. We are conducting investigations from different angles to find out the reasons behind the woman's death, said police.
