Bhubaneswar, Mar 23: A student of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Saturday during the srudents' protest against the Principal of the college over several issues.
As per reports, the student allegedly tried to pour petrol on himself during the protest but was stopped by the fellow students.
The incident occured when a score of students staged protest against Principal Itishree Padhi over lack of basic facilities on the college premises and depriving them of NUA-O Scholarship launched by the State government.
The protesting students accused the Principal of turning a deaf ear to their repeated requests for clean drinking water in the college premises, installation of fans in the classrooms etc.

✨The students also alleged that they were being threatened of ‘expel’ by the Principal when they apprised her of their genuine problems.
On the other hand, the Principal denied all the allegations made by the protesting students. "A handful of students are conspiring against me and provoking the students to create unnecessary tension in the college," she said.
