Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The Bhubaneswar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday started a Satyagraha for indefinite period demanding the complete removal of Gadakana dumping yard in the State Capital.

The BJP workers expressed anger over the clandestine dumping of the garbage along the road near Sainik School as the waste runs onto the road raising stink and endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians.

BJP’s Bhubaneswar District president Babu Singh criticised the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) over dumping of garbage at the TTS behind the Sainik School in the heart of the city.

The city has been turned into a dumping yard with foul smell of garbage everywhere, he added.

The BJP urgerd the civic body to remove the TTS from the area completely and warned to intensify the satyagraha if their demand is not met at the earliest.

As per reports, the temporary transit station (TTS) near Sainik School has now grown into a garbage hill. People living in VSS Nagar, Gadakana Mouza, and nearby localities of Bhubaneswar have been facing difficulties due to the putrid odour that hangs heavy in the air.
