Bhubaneswar Boosts City Surveillance With 24X7 CCTV Vigilance For Enhanced Safety

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: In a proactive move to address rising law and order concerns, Bhubaneswar is stepping up its security measures through extensive CCTV surveillance. The Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) is set to maintain round-the-clock vigilance with access to 547 CCTV cameras installed by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL). Additionally, 120 cameras from the UPD in various city locations will be monitored through the Commissionerate Police headquarters.
The state-of-the-art control room, developed at a cost of around ₹19 crore, integrates artificial intelligence (AI) technology and advanced forensic tools. It currently incorporates 270 private and community CCTV cameras from Cuttack UPD, with plans to integrate approximately 10,000 more cameras from private entities in Bhubaneswar.
DCP Prateek Singh highlighted that the AI-equipped system will enable real-time tracking of suspects based on specific criteria, such as dress color and vehicle details. This integration aims to empower police stations to closely monitor and swiftly respond to anti-social activities, facilitating efficient crime investigation.
