Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: Amid speculation over possible alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJP) in Odisha for the forthcoming simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections, BJD vice president Debi Prasad Mishra and senior General Secretary Arun Sahoo on Wednesday said that their party will do everything to achieve the greater interests of people of Odisha and the State.

"An extenension discussion was held under the leadership of BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with the senior leaders of the Party today regarding the strategy of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha (State Assembly)elections. In the discussions it was resolved that since by 2036, Odisha will complete 100 years of its statehood and BJD and the Chief Minister has major milestones to be achieved by this time, therefore the Biju Janata Dal will do everything towards this in greater interests of people of Odisha and the State," reads a statement of Mishra and Sahoo, issued by the BJD.

Reports of a possible alliance between the BJP and BJP in Odisha emerged after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Odisha yesterday.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting between senior leaders of BJP from Odisha and party's Central leaders is underway in New Delhi this evening.

The meeting was called for a discussion on the party's election strategy for the upcoming simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha, sources said.
