Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: The Special Crime Unit (SCU) of Commissionerate Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized brown sugar valued at around Rs 66 lakhs from their possession from CRP Square area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, informed Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi on Monday.
The accused peddlers have been identified as SK Sadiruddin of Basta and Ajmer Khan of Jaleswar area in Odisha's Balasore district.
Acting on a tip-off about illegal drug trade ahead of new year celebrations, a SCU team intercepted a vehicle on National Highway-16 flyover at CRP Square at CRPF Square in the State Capital last night and nabbed the two drug peddlers.

✨The police team seized around 660 grams of brown sugar from their possession. The seized contraband was valued at around Rs 66 lakh, officials said.

The drug peddlers are suspected to be part of a network involved in transporting the contraband item for financial gain, from Jaleswar to Khordha area, they added.
