Rayagada, July 1: In a tragic incident, a man was killed and three others sustained critical injuries as a car, in which they were travelling, fell off a culvert at Bandhaguda village under Ambadala police station limits in Rayagada district early this morning. 

The deceased and injured are yet to be identified. While one of the injured persons remained locked inside the overturned car, police and fire personnel were trying to bring him out safely. 

The exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be known. 

It is suspected that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to over-speed or drowsiness. After skidding off the culvert, the car fell into a ditch and overturned. 

On being informed by some passersby, police went to the spot and started a rescue operation. The rescued injured persons are undergoing treatment in a hospital.
