  • Silicon Tech MD allegedly leaked Set No. 3 question paper.
  • Aspirants reportedly paid Rs 25 lakh for guaranteed SI posts.
  • OPRB officials questioned over silence and possible complicity.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 5: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet in connection with the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam, revealing startling details of manipulation and corruption. A copy of the charge sheet accessed by the Argus News indicates that the fraudulent activities date back to March 2025.

According to the CBI, while the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) was officially responsible for printing the examination papers, irregularities were committed by Silicon Tech Lab’s Managing Director, Suresh Nayak. Instead of following instructions to print Set No. 5, Nayak allegedly printed Set No. 3, which had already been leaked to aspirants who had paid bribes.

Investigators allege that aspirants were shown the leaked question papers and lured into paying as much as Rs25 lakh each to secure the SI post. Deals were struck months in advance, but the sudden cancellation of the exam in March 2025 disrupted the arrangement. When the exam was rescheduled in October, brokers revived the scheme, assuring candidates that the same leaked papers would be used.

The charge sheet further notes that five sets of question papers had been prepared for the exam, but deliberate manipulation ensured that the leaked set was printed. This allowed middlemen to continue the racket of “buying and selling jobs” with renewed confidence.

The silence of OPRB officials has raised serious questions. The CBI has interrogated OPRB Superintendent Balabhadra Deep and Section Officer Gautam Prasad Behera to ascertain whether the Board was complicit or simply negligent. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of institutional involvement.

The revelations have triggered outrage, with concerns over the credibility of recruitment processes and the future of thousands of genuine aspirants.
