Deogarh, Dec 22: In an inhumane act, a Class II student was raped by none other than her distant-maternal uncle in Maradanga village under Barakot police station in Deogarh district on Tuesday. 

The accused has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Mallick. 

According to information, the child's father was away at his workplace when the ghastly act was committed. The accused had threatened her mother of dire consequences, if they reported the matter to others.

The child's health condition was critical due to which, when her father returned home and then got to know of the matter. Following his insistence, the victim's mother lodged a complaint today. 

The accused is on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. 

The child is admitted in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Deogarh.
