Cuttack, Feb 17: A youth was reportedly arrested on the charge of collecting extortion from his father in Cuttack city's Chaulianganj area today. 

The arrested has been identified as Satyaranjan Samal, a hard-core criminal.

According to the information, Satyaranjan asked his father to pay him Rs 10 lakh. As his father refused to pay, Satyaranjn attacked him with a sharp weapon and then forcibly handled his bank account online and took away some money.  

After this, the father Subhash Chandra Mallick complained to the Chauliaganj police against his son. Based on his complaint, the Chauliaganj police arrested Satyaranjan. 

Satyaranjan has many criminal cases filed against him at different police stations.  Impersonating as a doctor, he had duped many people of lakhs of rupees. He also duped some girls of lakhs of rupees on marriage promises. He was using a costly car and enjoying his life.
