Jagatsinghpur, Nov 8: A drunk youth allegedly hacked an elderly man to death and critically injured two youths who were trying to rescue him in Hitaramana village of Sailo Panchayat under Tirtol police station limits in Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Binod Das and the critically injured as Janaki Biswal and Bishnu Charap Palei. The accused has been identified as Subash Biswal. The victims and the accused are the residents of the village.
The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. It is suspected to be a case of family dispute, informed the locals.
Accoridng to the information, this morning, Subash in an inebriated state attacked Binod with an axe. To rescue him, Janaki and Bishnu tried to overpower him, but their effort was in vain. Subash broke Janaki's hips by attacking her and attacked Bishnu with the axe.
As a result of the attack, Janaki and Bishnu sustained critical injuries, however, Binod died on the spot, said locals.Before the locals could catch him, Subash fled form the spot.

✨Soon, the victims were rushed to Manijangha Community Health Centre for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and initatied a probe into the matter to nab Subash.
Tension erupted in the village following the brutal incident.
