Balangir, Jan 30: A doctor at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir district who was allegedly in a drunk condition, was thrashed by the family members of a patient who died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Monday night.

According to the reports, a person of Kandhapalipara area in the district was ill and was admitted to the hospital and he needed blood for his treatment.

Patient's family alleged that despite arranging blood immediately and waiting for more than three hours with the blood packets, no doctor came to treat him resulting in the death of patient.

Even the nurses on duty did not give him blood, they alleged.

Following patient's death, his family members searched for the doctor and allegedly found him in an inebriated state, while one of the family members started thrashing him.

The doctor was later rescued by the security guards.
