Keonjhar, Nov 10: After a few weeks' gap, the carcass of a male elephant was found lying on a paddy field at Zuanga Sahi of Saleikena gram panchayat under Telkoi forest division in Keonjhar district early this morning.
Some locals, who had gone to attend the calls of nature, first saw the dead body of the elephant and informed local forest officials.
According to forest officials, the tusker might have been killed in a fight with two other maly pachyders.
"Now, it is a mating season for elephants. During this season, male elephants fight among themselves to have sex with a female elephant. So, it is suspected that the death occurred due to a tripartite fight," said a forest official.

✨He, however, stated that the exact reason behind the death of the tusker would be known after the post-mortem report.
