Elephant Tramples 2 Farmers To Death In Khordha Village

Khordha, Dec 4: In another human-animal conflict in Odisha, two farmers were trampled to death by a male elephant at Braja Gopika Dham under the Tangi forest range in Khordha district early this morning.
The deceased were identified as Laxmidhar Behera of Ramchandrapur Gram Panchayat and Krushna Chandra Pradhan of Pariorad Gram Panchayat.
According to sources, the two came across a jumbo while they were going to their agricultural fields. The pachyderm crushed them under its feet. Forest department officials were yet to reach the spot and the dead bodies were lying on the field by the time of filing of this report.

Tension prevailed in the area as locals staged an agitation in the area following the incident. They demanded a permanent solution to the menace and adequate compensation to the families of the deceased persons.
