Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: Actor-tuned politician Akash Das Nayak, who was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Jajpur district's Korei segment on a BJD ticket in 2014, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.

Nayak, an Ollywood superstar, had quit the Biju Janata Das (BJD) recently, expressing his resentment over functioning of the party.  

He had won the Korei assembly seat on a BJD ticket in 2014 election. He didn't contest the 2019 election. Later, the State government appointed him as Chairman of the 'Mo College' programme.
