Angul, Apr 30: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former MLA from Chhendipada Assembly constituency, Khageswar Behera quit the ruling party on Tuesday, weeks ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.
Behera sent his resignation letter to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik this morning.
"Though I possess all quality, capacity and ability to serve the people in the right way, I could not be given any chance/opportunity/responsibility to step on the proper platform for public service as well as work for the party," the former MLA wrote in his resignation letter.
In 2009, Behera was elected from Chhendipada Assembly constituency in Angul district on a BJD ticket.

✨Party insiders said Behera resigned from the primary membership of the BJD, days after being denied a ticket to contest the Assembly polls.
Several senior leaders including two sitting MPs and at least five sitting MLAs have so far resigned from the BJD after being denied party tickets.
Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases from May 13 to June 1. The results will be out on June 4.
