Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: A day after Odisha Chief Minister said that he kept his promises for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project, senior BJP leader and former Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi on Tuesday hit back over the State government's multiple ‘unfulfilled’ promises.
While laying the foundation stone for the phase 1 of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project on Monday, the Chief Minister said, " I have made a promise for the Metro Rail project which I have been fulfilling today.”
BJP leader Majhi today reminded the Chief Minister of several "unkept promises" made by the BJD government.
Going into the detail, Majhi said, "In 2014, the BJD government had promised that the water from Indravati river would be given to people of Nabarangpur district. So far, the State government has done nothing in this regard."
"In 2016, the Chief Minister had promised to provide the entire land cost and bear partial expenses for two ambitious railway projects of Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri. However, the State government is yet to acquire an inch of land for the two projects," he added.
Here are other promises which the BJD government has failed to fulfil in the last two decades.

✨The Chief Minister had promised that by 2019, all the poor people will be provided with puccka houses and electricity from the State government's funds. For this, the Modi government has allocated crores of rupees, but the BJD government did not do anything about it.
The Chief Minister had promised to provide irrigation facilities to 35% of agricultural land in all the blocks across the State. However, this is far from the reality in most parts of the State.
CM Naveen had assured granting district status to Padampur sub-division by December 31, 2023. However, this remains a promise.

Likewise, the Chief Minister had assured, while campaigning for the bypolls, the development of Bijepur, Tirtol, Padmapur, Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda Assembly segments was his responsibility. As usual, his promises seem to have been sidelined, the BJP leader alleged.
