Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: In a major jolt to Biju Janata Dal (BJD), former Odisha Minister Debasis Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the regional party on Sunday, ahead of the elections to Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly due this year.
According to sources, Nayak, a four-time MLA from Bari constituency in Jajpur district, sent his resignation letter to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Nayak was elected from Bari Assembly seat in 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2014 on BJD ticket.
