Berhampur, Nov 4: A Class III student reportedly received critical injuries after being beaten by a lady teacher in a school in the Aska area in Ganjam district. 

The injured victim has been identified as Ayush Jena of Mukundapur village under Aska police station. 

According to a complaint made by Ayush, teacher Jasmin Patnaik hit him on the head over a silly mistake committed by him. He also received injuries on the other parts of his body in the teacher's attack. 

As the news of the incident spread, students of the school gathered outside and staged a protest along with villagers, demanding stringent action against the teacher and free treatment of the student.
