General Elections 2024: 7.69% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 9AM In Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 1: Polling is underway for the fourth and final phase of the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and State Assembly in Odisha on Saturday.
Around 7.69 % voter turnout was recorded in the six Lok Sabha seats and 42 Assembly segments in the State till 9 AM today, officials said.
Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha segment recorded the highest polling with 8.54% voter turnout followed by Bhadrak at 7.79%, Jajpur at 7.74%, Balasore at 7.46%, Mayurbhanj at 7.33% and Kendrapara at 7.27 % polling.
Voting began at 7 Am in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituencies, along with the 42 assembly seats that constitute these parliamentary constituencies in Odisha's fourth and last round of elections to Lok Sabha and State Assembly. Polling will continue till 6 PM, officials said.
Approximately 1 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes across 10,882 booths in the fourth and final round of simultaneous elections in the state.
As many as sixty-six candidates are contesting for the six Lok Sabha seats, while 394 contestants are competing for the 42 Assembly segments.
Several prominent leaders' fates will be decided in this phase, including Odisha assembly Speaker Pramila Mallik, government chief whip Prashant Muduli, BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda, six Odisha ministers, and four sitting MPs.
In all, 36,000 security personnel and 72,000 polling officials have been deployed for this round of twin polls in the state.
The twin elections for all 21 Lok Sabha seats and 147 Assembly constituencies in Odisha are being held in four phases starting from May 13. The counting of the votes will be held on June 4.
