Mayurbhanj, Feb 11: In a tragic mishap, a girlchild drowned in a pond in Chingudipokhari village under Hatabadada police outpost of Rairangpur Rural police station in Mayurbhanj district today.
The deceased has been identified as Anupama Mahanta, daughter of Rabindra Mahanta of Chingudipokhari village.
According to the information, tiny girl Anupama was playing with her brother on the village road while their mother had gone to bring a goat from the field. On return, the mother saw the body of her daughter floaing on the pond water. Later, she was declared dead at the Rairangpur hospital.
