Bhubaneswar, June 3: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Monday dissolved the State's 16 Legislative Assembly.
The Governor in exercise of power conferred upon him by clause 2 (b) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, ordered that the Assembly constituted on May 25, 2019 by Election Commission of India, shall stand dissolved with effect from the date a newly elected legislature is constituted by the Election Commission of India.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Parliamentary Affairs department of Odisha government.

✨Earlier on the day, the Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recommended to the Governor to dissolve the State Assembly.
The Cabinet took the decision, a day before the counting of votes in the state for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Notably, Odisha went to the polls in four phases from May 13 to June 1 to elect 147 MLAs and 21 Lok Sabha members. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
