Nayagarh, Sep 11: For the first time, grand Navratri celebrations will be held at the revered Maa Vaishno Devi Temple nestled within the Jamukona Hills of Odagaon block in Nayagarh district.
The temple, located inside a 180-foot-long cave, has become a spiritual magnet, drawing thousands of devotees daily.
Starting from September 22, the nine-day festival will feature traditional rituals including Chandi Patha, Kalash Yatra, Homa, and Yagna. Each evening, the temple premises will come alive with the vibrant rhythms of Dandiya dance, adding a festive flair to the spiritual ambiance.
The temple trust, in collaboration with local authorities, has made elaborate arrangements to manage the expected surge in devotees. Nayagarh district police and temple officials will be stationed throughout the event to ensure safety and smooth conduct.

A press conference was held at the PWD Dak Bungalow by the temple trust to announce the schedule and preparations. Trust members emphasized that the rituals will follow the traditions observed at the original Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir.
Devotees will witness the goddess in a different divine form each day, culminating in Kanya Puja on the ninth day, where nine young girls will be worshipped as embodiments of the goddess. The celebrations are expected to bring peace, devotion, and cultural vibrancy to the region.
The Jamukona temple, surrounded by lush forests and scenic
beauty, has emerged as a spiritual destination in Odisha. With the Navratri
festival, the temple is poised to become a major pilgrimage and cultural hub.
