Jumbo Crushes Boy Under Its Feet In Sambalpur

Sambalpur, Mar 11: In another incident of human-animal conflict, a wild elephant took the life of a boy in Jharghati village of Basiapada section under Sambalpur Sadar range on Sunday night.
The boy has been identifed as Judhistir Behera of Purunapani village under Dakara Gram Panchayat in Maneswar block of Sambalpur district.
According to the sources, Judhistir was returning to his village after watching a cricket match when the jumbo attacked him.
The tusker dragged him and trampled him under its feet as a result he lost his life.

✨The Jujumura police reached the spot and seized the body. The forest officials also reached the spot after getting the information.

The locals had in the past also felt the terror of the elephant as it had trampled a villager in Halipali village. Many a times it had crushed the huts and damaged the crops of the villagers.
"The jumbo will be soon traced and tranquilized with the help of two special teams," informed Biswanath Nilambaramb, DFO, Sambalpur.
