Bhubaneswar, Jun 7: A court in Odisha's Khordha district on Friday granted interim bail to BJP MLA-elect from Khordha constituency, Prashant Jagdev, for three days starting from June 9 for taking part in oath taking ceremony of the new BJP government in the State.
Jagdev, a two-time MLA, has been granted bail for three days -- June 9, 10, 11 – and asked to surrender before the court on June 12.
The BJP leader has been lodged in a jail after being arrested on the charge of damaging an electronic voting machine (EVM) at a booth in Kaunripatana village in Begunia assembly constituency in Khordha district while polling was underway during the third phase of polls on May 25.
Jagdev won from Khordha Assembly segment by a margin of over 8500 votes in the recently held twin polls in the State.

✨The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 78 seats in the 147-member Assembly, ending Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Naveen Patnaik's 24-year stint in the state. BJD won 51 seats, Congress won 14, CPI(M) won one seat and Independents secured three seats.
The saffron party also won 20 out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha. While the Congress won one seat in the State and BJD failed to open an account in the Lok Sabha polls.
