Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: In a tragic incident, a man was killed after he was run over by a speeding truck on NH 16 at Pahal on Bhubaneswar city outskirts this evening. 

The deceased has been identified as Badrinath Patra (35), a resident of nearby Naharkanta village. 

According to the information, Badrinath was crossing the road on foot when a truck mowed down him. He reportedly died on the spot. 

Tension prevailed as locals blocked the road for which vehicular movement was disrupted and hundreds of vehicles, including emergency ones, were stranded on both sides of the accident place. 

Normalcy was restored on the National Highway after the Pahal police placated the agitating locals through talks.
