Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: A blistering summer is knocking on Odisha's doors as the mercury rose to over 35 degree Celsius in many places in February. As many as 18 places in the State recorded temperature of 35 degree Celsius or more on Thursday, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

According to the Bhubaneswar centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sonepur was the hottest place in the State with 36. 3 degree Celsius, followed by Bhubaneswar and Talcher each at 36.2 degree Celsius, Titlagarh and Boudh each at 36 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda at 35.7 degree Celsius, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal each at 35.6 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna, Nayagarh and Balangir each at 35.5 degree Celsius, Cuttack and Malkangiri each at 35.4 degree Celsius, Angul at 35.3 degree Celsius, Balasore, Chandbali and Jajpur each at 35.2 degree Celsius, and Paralakhemundi at 35 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Met Centre predicted light rain over several districts in the State during the next five days.
