Koraput, June 12: In a heartrending incident, a minor boy drowned in the Indravati River at Sadaranga village under the Kotpad area in Koraput district this morning. 

The deceased child has been identified as a resident of Ukanpali village in neighbouring Chhattisgarh State. 

According to the information, the minor boy had come to his relative's house in Sadaranga village on the occasion of Baliyatra (a local festival). He was bathing in the Indiravati River this morning when he slipped into deep water. His body was recovered after an hour of search. 

The incident shocked the villagers. 

On being informed, the local police reached the spot and started an investigation after sending the body for postmortem.
