Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: BJD MLA and former Minister Prafulla Samal didn't appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today despite a summon issued to him in connection with the land irregularities case of Barada Engineering College, Bhadrak.
Earlier, the ED had summoned Samal and his son Prayaskant to remain present before it with all supportive documents.
Sources said Samal sent a representative to the ED and sought some time for his appearance citing personal reasons. Through the messenger, he told the ED that he would appear before it soon.

✨It may be noted that the ED recently carried out raids on the houses linked to Samal and Prayaskant in Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar and seized assets worth lakhs of rupees, including cash of Rs 9 lakh.
The ED carried out search operations at 10 locations in Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar belonging to Prayaskanti Samal (ex-President), Manoj Kumar Goswami (Secretary), and others of Barapada School of Engineering and Technology (BSET) society in the matter of misappropriation of society money.
It recovered incriminating documents, digital devices, cash of Rs 9 lakh, undated cheques, land agreements, and a costly car worth about Rs 40 lakh during searches.
