Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: Former BJP State president Samir Mohanty on Thursday targeted the Odisha government over the spread of cholera that has claimed more than six lives in smart city Rourkela and polluted environment in another smart city Bhubaneswar.
‘’Portable drinking water and clean air are the basic needs of citizens. Now people are dying for want of drinking water in Rourkela and denizens of Bhubaneswar are suffering from skin cancer and other serious diseases due to polluted air,’’ alleged Mohanty.
He slammed the state government and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation BMC for not responding to Bhubaneswar residents’ demand of an pollution-free environment.
Our party (BJP) leaders have been sitting on a dharna for the last 24 days to bring city residents demand to the notice of the government. However, BMC officials are yet to visit the dharna site. It indicates the BJD has been arrogant with its numbers in the State Assembly, he said and added that people of the state will never tolerate this attitude of the ruling party in coming days.
