Nayagarh, Jan 31: One person died and another was critically injured as a speeding truck laden with liquor hit a bike near Dihagaon Chhack under Daspalla police station in Nayagarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Basant Dalai(45) and the injured person has been identified as Prafulla Dalai of Balabhadra Prasad under Khandapada Police station.

According to the information, Basant and Prafulla both are Scarp dealers and they were travelling to Daspalla when this mishap took place.

Locals spotted them and rushed them to Nayagarh hospital where Basant was declared dead and Prafulla's treatment is underway. 

Tension erupted in the spot as the mishap took place.

The helper was detained by the locals and the driver fled away from the place.

On being informed, Daspalla police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
