Rourkela, Dec 8: A five-day Teachers’ Training Programme for educators from PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) kicked off at NIT Rourkela, officials said on Monday.

The programme, held from December 8–12, brings together 38 teachers from 20 JNVs across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, aiming to strengthen teaching methodologies and empower educators with modern tools and practices.

Programme Details
Organised by the Centre for Continuing Education (SRICCE)-NITR, the initiative is convened by Prof. Samit Ari and co-convened by Prof. Madhurima Jana. The training includes 14 technical sessions and interactive activities designed to enhance classroom practices, promote innovative teaching, and integrate technology effectively.

Leadership Insights
Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Registrar of NIT Rourkela and an alumnus of JNV, highlighted the pride of hosting this programme and the role of Navodaya schools in nurturing national talent. Prof. S. K. Pratihar emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, noting that teachers must balance subject knowledge with emotional support for students.

Prof. Ashok Kumar Turuk, Dean (Academic), underscored the need to blend traditional blackboard teaching with technology-enabled learning. He cautioned against over-reliance on digital sources, stressing that active participation and problem-solving in classrooms foster originality and discipline.

Training Themes
The sessions cover competency-based learning, experiential approaches, social-emotional development, technology-supported engagement, blended learning, and even advanced topics like quantum computing for science education. The programme also addresses privacy and security in digital learning, ensuring teachers are equipped to handle modern challenges.

By equipping JNV educators with updated skills and renewed approaches, the training contributes to the PM SHRI initiative’s vision of strengthening school education across India.
