Koraput, Feb 12: In what has come as a sharp contrast to the Odisha Government's development claim, villagers carried the dead body of a man by crossing a river through its water dangerously to reach the crematorium ground due to lack of a bridge over the river.

The pitiable incident was marked in Kelar village of Kusumguda gram panchayat under Laxmipur area in Koraput district. Banchhanidhi Khosla of the village passed away late in the night. Family members had to cross the deep water of the nearby river to reach the crematorium ground as there was no bridge over the river.

Though people have approached all concerned authorities, nobody has paid heed to their demand.
