Jagatsinghpur, Mar 27: Do police help people? It is a question answered with 'no', albeit it is not to be generalized.

An incident that occurred in the Ersama area of Jagatsinghpur district has triggered public resentment against the local police. Though two women- a pregnant lady and an elderly woman, were injured after being hit by a police van, the cops sped away instead of taking them to a hospital, much to the dismay of the passersby and witnesses.

According to the information, Sasmita Sethi, a pregnant woman, and her mother-in-law Sasirekha Sethi of Basanta villager under Balikuda block were going to a hospital on a motorcycle when a jeep of the Ersama police hit them at Paladhuabandh. Though all three, including the biker, fell on the road and got injured, the police didn't stop there. They sped up even as locals shouted for their help.
