Phulbani, June 29: Another example of lack of road connectivity in rural Odisha came to the fore after an ailing man was carried on a cot and taken to hospital in Kandhamal district today. 

The pitiful incident was reported from Radabadi village of Sugadabadi gram panchayat under Raikia block in the district. 

Surathi Pradhan of the village developed an illness this morning. The family members carried him on a cot to a distance of 3 km where they called for an ambulance to go to the Raikia Hospital. However, the ambulance didn't come. They hired an autorickshaw and took Surathi to the hospital.

Such a sordid incident had occurred four days ago. Then Tribeni Pradhan of the village was carried on a cot in the dead of the night to reach the DHH at Phulbani. As luck would have it, he was declared dead by doctors there.
