Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: The Election Commission Of India (ECI) issued a notification for the scheduled February 27 Rajya Sabha elections today.   

According to the notification, polls for 56 Rajya Sabha seats, including three in Odisha, will be conducted on February 27. Candidates, desiring to fight the polls, can file nomination papers from February 8 i.e.today to 15. The nominations will be scrutinized and the names of valid candidates will be published on February 16. 

The last date of withdrawal of candidature is February 20. 

Voting for all the seats will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm on February 27. Counting of votes will be done from 5 pm onwards. 

It may be mentioned here that polls will be conducted for three RS seats in Odisha as Rajya Sabha members Ashwini Vaishnaw (Union Railways Minister) and Prasant Nanda and Amar Patnaik (BJD) are retiring on April 3, 2024.
