Angul, June 16: A female elephant and her calf, who fell into an abandoned well in Odisha's Angul district, were rescued by a team of Forest department officials on Sunday following a three-hour struggle.
According to officials, the incident occurred near Lembutaila village under Jarapada Forest Range this morning when a female elephant and her 6-month-old calf fell into the abandoned well.
The locals informed the Forest department, following which a rescue operation was launched by a special team headed by Angul DFO Nitish Kumar.

✨As part of the rescue operation, a JCB machine was used to pull the animals to safety.
Upon being rescued, the female elephant and her calf ventured into the nearby forest, officials said.
