Solo/Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: Odisha’s para badminton icon Pramod Bhagat once again proved his mettle on the international stage, clinching two medals at the prestigious Indonesia Para Badminton International Level 1 Tournament 2025 held in Solo from October 29 to November 2, officials said on Sunday.

Bhagat’s stellar performance reaffirmed India’s dominance in para sports and Odisha’s growing legacy in global competitions.

 

Gold in Men’s Doubles

Bhagat, partnering with Sukant Kadam, secured the Gold Medal in the Men’s Doubles SL3–SL4 category, defeating Indonesia’s Dwiyoko and Setiawan in straight sets 21–16, 21–12. The duo displayed exceptional coordination and tactical brilliance throughout the tournament.

In the Mixed Doubles SL3–SU5 semifinal, Bhagat teamed up with Manisha Ramadass for a gripping three-game battle against Indonesia’s top-seeded pair F Setiawan and K Sadiyah. Despite a strong comeback in the second game, the Indian pair narrowly missed the final, settling for a well-earned Bronze with scores of 18–21, 21–13, 20–22.

 

Deep Ranjan Bisoyee Adds to Medal Tally

Odisha’s Deep Ranjan Bisoyee, alongside Manoj Sarkar, earned a Bronze Medal in Men’s Doubles SL3–SL4, showcasing resilience and teamwork. Though they lost to Dwiyoko and Setiawan in the semifinal (11–21, 12–21), their consistent performance throughout the tournament was commendable.
