Odisha Police SI Exam Racket Exposed, Investigation Underway

Key Points

Crime Branch investigates Odisha Police SI exam fraud involving private firms.

Ex-DIG’s son arrested; political blame game intensifies between BJD and BJP.

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: The Odisha government has swung into action following revelations of large-scale irregularities in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination. The Crime Branch has intensified its investigation to uncover the full extent of the alleged scam, officials said on Friday.

Private Firms Under Scrutiny

The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) had outsourced the SI exam to ITI Private Limited, which further delegated the task to Silicon Solutions Pvt. Ltd. That firm, in turn, handed over operations to Panchatatwa PCT Limited. The chain of outsourcing has raised serious concerns about accountability and transparency in the recruitment exams.

Two individuals — Suresh Nayak, owner of Silicon Solutions, and the manager of Panchatatwa PCT — were interrogated at the Crime Branch headquarters. The prime suspect, Shankar Prusty, is currently absconding.

Arrest of Ex-DIG’s Son Raises Eyebrows

In a major development, the son of a retired DIG has been arrested in connection with the scam, intensifying public suspicion and prompting calls for deeper scrutiny. Activist Bibhuti Bhushan Mohapatra from “Students Against Corruption” has demanded swift and impartial action.

Political Blame Game Escalates

The controversy has sparked a fierce political battle between the ruling BJP and opposition BJD. While BJD student wing leader Ipsita Sahu accused the government of shielding influential figures, BJP State President Manmohan Samal defended the administration and urged patience until the investigation concludes.

As the Crime Branch continues its probe, all eyes are on how the case unfolds and whether it leads to systemic reforms in recruitment processes.
