Odisha: Three Killed In Road Accident in Koraput, CM Announces Ex-gratia

Koraput, Jan 26: At least three persons were killed and more than 10 people were injured in a road accident involving five vehicles in Odisha's Koraput district on Friday.
According to sources, the incident occured near Bijapur Chhak under Borigumma police limits around 2.30 PM. One SUV (Mahindra Scorpio with a Chhattisgarh registration number), one autorickshaw, one tractor and two bikes were involved in the mishap.
The speeding SUV collided with a motorcycle, and then these two vehicles hit another two-wheeler, a tractor and an autorickshaw with 15 passengers on board following which the SUV and the autorickshaw skidded off the road and rolled down into a nearby field, sources said.
Two of the deceased persons were passengers of the autorickshaw and another was a motorcyclist. The trio died on the spot.
The locals rescued the injured persons and rushed them to the Borigumma Hospital. The critically injured persons were taken to SLN Medical College and Hospital at Koraput.

✨The deceased are yet to be identified, police said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the death of three persons in the accident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 3 lakh each to the next of kin of each deceased.
Patnaik also directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment of the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
