Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday expressed deep grief over the demise Odisha’s Centenarian Freedom Fighter Nilamani Samal.
In a tweet in Odia, Union Minister Pradhan, who hails from Odisha, said, "I am saddened to hear the demise of Nilamani Samal, President of the State Freedom Fighters Association, President's Awardee and Centenary Freedom Fighter. His dedication and strong contribution towards the freedom of the country will always be remembered. In his absence, the country lost a great son."
"I express my condolences to the bereaved family. May the departed soul rest in peace. Om Shanti," he added.

Odisha’s freedom fighter Nilamani Samal died at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack at the age of 101 today.

✨Samal, a resident of Balipadia village near Balichandrapur in Jajpur district, was suffering from old-age-related complications for several days.
The centenarian freedom fighter was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Medicine ward at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Samal, also the president of State Freedom Fighter Samiti, Odisha, was imprisoned for three years by the British during the freedom struggle.
