Puri, Feb 3: Devotees of Lord Jagannath will be served Kanika (Coocked spiced rice) and Khechudi ( Cooked vegetable-mixed rice), prepared from 'Arpan Chaula (rice)' collected from houses across the State before Shreemandir Parikrama Prakalpa on January 17, free of cost from today. 

The two aromatic and tasty food items will be served to devotees at the west, north and south gates on their return from the Shrimandir throughout the day, from Sakala Dhupa to Sandhya Dhupa. 

According to the information, Kanika and Khechudi will be prepared from 'Arpana Chaula' collected from Ganjam district first. A sub-committee comprising SJTA members and president and other office bearers of Suar, Mahasuar, Chhatisha Nijog hs been formed to oversee the Mahaprasad making. 

Sukapars, who sell Mahaprasad at Anandbazaar inside the Shreemandir, will prepare about 60 Haandi (large pots) of Kanika and Khechudi. All these will be distributed among devotees.

The SJTA has also a set a target to distribute Kanika and Khechudi to over 10,000 devotees every day.
