Remuneration Hike: Mayors To Get Rs 50K, Municipality Chairpersons Rs 15K, NAC Heads Rs 10K

Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced a hike in remuneration for elected functionaries of five municipal corporations, 48 municipalities and 68 notified area councils.
While Mayors will now get Rs 50,000 per month up from their present monthly remuneration of Rs 8,000, Deputy Mayors will get Rs 20,000 per month instead of Rs 5, 000.
Municipality Chairpersons will get Rs 15,000 per month instead of the present remuneration of Rs 1,500, and Vice-Chairpersons will get Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 1,200.
Similarly, the monthly remuneration of Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of the Notified Area Councils (NAC) has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 and Rs 800 to Rs 7,500 respectively.

✨Besides, Corporators and MCs have got their monthly remuneration hiked from Rs 700 to Rs 2,000 per month and Councillors of Municipalities and NAC from Rs 150 to Rs 500.
Standing Committee members will get Rs 200 each per council meeting.
The amounts of ex-gratia payble in case of deaths and injuries of ULB representatives have also been increased. In case of deaths, ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the deceased's family, while Rs 2 lakh has been set for permanent disability and Rs 1 lakh for partial impairment.
